Canaday City Day 9

I started out by posting signs on each of the plots on the Farm.  I also expanded the one for the Cactus since I messed up on it''s size.  I ended up with a plot that I had no use for.  I know I had something planned there, but couldn't remember what.  So for now it is labeled as a Koi Pond.

I also planted a couple Cocoa Beans and pumpkins over by the current fields, just to see how I would want to plant them in the actual plots.

I headed out to the Island and finished filling in everything.  Not only did I convert it from mostly sand and some stone to dirt, I also expanded it some!  Unfortunately I didn't have enough dirt for the expansion, so I went out, got more, and finished it.

With that done, I started mapping out where everything went.  I ended up reducing the size of the houses some because the original size was just too big.  Not from a construction stand point., but over all.  It was just too big.  So I reduced the size a bit and made an interesting discovery.  After spending a couple days working on the Island, it turns out that...I need to make it twice as big as it is.  Looks like it is back to gathering dirt.  Sad face.

Canaday City Day 8

Finished gathering dirt.  There is still some there I could get, but it is all underwater and I didn't want to deal with it right now.  There is plenty above ground (or just barely below water) to deal with.  I also gathered some Jungle Wood so I can grow Cocoa Beans.

I returned to the farm site and went to bed because it was almost dark when I got there.  The workshop isn't that good of a shelter to hold off Zombies and Creepers.  I will be improving it eventually.

When I woke up, I started working on clearing the farm site.  Originally all plants and animals were going to be inside the City Walls, but when I decided not to build the city in the original location, I decided to use it for the farm.  After clearing all the Tall Grass and leveling/widening the floor, I started mapping out where everything went, digging up the ground to mark things as well as where a walk way will go.  I have some work to do, including work on the path leading to the work shop (now officially called Watchtower, because it will serve as a guard post protecting the farm) but I have a good start.  Over all I ended up with almost 300 Clay and nearly 1000 dirt, although I will need to put some back when I build the farm.

Time to go back to work on the island.

Canaday City Day 7

After clearing out all the sand on the surface (As well as dirt, sandstone, and cobblestone) I started adding on.  I'll need a lot more dirt then I have so when I ran out, I took a boat I built and went exploring.

On a side note, apparently running a boat into lily pads at full speed will destroy the boar, but not the lily pad.  Also, apparently you can harvest lily pads.

I found a place and started gathering dirt, as well as a bunch of clay.  Lost a full stack of dirt at one point when I died (not sure how I lost it, but I did) but I still got a bunch.  Still a bit to go though so no total yet.  I also built a temporary shelter with a bed and work table

Canaday City Day 6

Finished exploring the map today and...didn't find a better place for the construction site.  I did mine some Iron though, which I need for making some buckets.  that way I can make the irrigation ditches flow better in the wheat field.

The other places I was looking at would work ok, but weren't quite what I was looking for.  So where does that leave me?  well, I'll just have to build my own construction site.

A little ways away from the Farm Site is an island covered in sand.  I was going to mine it all to make the windows I will need for everything.  After I'm done, I will start expanding it and use it to make Canaday City.

I also planted some Cactus before I went searching for my stuff last time (when I died) and was able to harvest that, as well as my second harvest from the wheat field.  And I got some Cocoa Beans when I found a Jungle Biome, so I will be planting those as soon as I figure out how to grow them.

Canaday City Day 5

I set out from the Farm Site (formerly the construction site, but I planed some wheat before I left so it's the Farm Site now) in search of a new construction site.  I found a few places that might work.  On should work well and has the entrance to a mine underneath it.  That would be nice, depending on how big the mine actually is.  I will explore it some after I am done.

I also killed a bunch of pics, cows, and chickens.  I wasn't going to since I didn't want to thin the herds near any potential sites, but after I realized that ones in location no where hear where I might build also won't be worth the effort to bring to the Construction Site, I had no problem with it.

Did have one slight problem during my exploration.  At one point it started getting dark and I realized that I didn't have a bed with me.  So I quickly made a shelter out of dirt.  Worked fine till I started taking it down.  Seems the Skeleton that I thought was dead wasn't and killed me.  and since I had my map at the time, it was kind of tough to find my stuff again.  Fortunately I knew about where I was and what path I took to get there so I was able to find it all again.

Still have a bit of the map to explore, and then it is time to start building.

Canaday City Day 4

I spent the day continuing to clear trees.  I also mined some stone to make a furnace and some stone tools.  I ended up with almost 960 oak planks and about 100 Birch planks.  not exactly sure how many birch planks I got total though because I use them for making tools and torches.  After I was done with clearing those trees, I went back to the construction site and started clearing it out.  I used some of the dirt to build a workshop.  I was going to use wood, but then I would have to mine it again when I was done to use it for building houses.  Even with almost a thousand, I'm pretty sure I will need more.

I think I might not use this site for the actual city though.  I know I said it would be perfect for it, but as I was clearing one end (closest to the water) I realized that it might work better for something else I was planning.  so next time I play I will probably be searching for a new building site.
